2008 Go-Kart Rules
1. No driving in the pit area!!!!! Drivers must come to a complete stop before leaving the scales. Penalty will be at track discretion. Please move through the scale area as quickly as possible. No extra people are permitted in the scale area , except Cage Karts and Jr. Karts are allowed to have 1 person to assist in the scale area.
2. If drivers are 15 years of age before the first point's race, they must run a senior class. Jr. Classes must run in their age-restricted class unless authorized by track personnel. If you run in a higher class for more than 3 weeks you may not move back.
3. If rained out any class completing their heat races will receive feature points for that race and trophies will be given for the heat race. Any class not completing their heats entry will be honored for the next week only, unless notifying track personnel before leaving the track. If rained out in mid-feature, feature finishes will be used for the features completed and heat finished will be used for the rest of the class not able to run their features. Pit passes are honored for the next week only and arm bands must be shown only if no classes have started their heats before cancellation. Kart entries will be honored for heats that have not been completed.
4. Each karter is allowed one re-start after the initial green flag. If you stall within the 3 minutes or initial green, this start is not counted as your re-start.
5. All karts and drivers must pass a safety inspection. Most items to be inspected are steering. All rod end bearings will have a larger washer to prevent center bearing from falling out. All steering bolts must be cotter pinned or safety wired. Weights must be safely secured. Chain and clutch guards must be installed. Two cycles must have a third bearing support or adequate safety shield to contain clutch if crank breaks. Four-cycle exhaust must NOT extend beyond the rear bumper. Mufflers & kill switches are mandatory.
6. Nose cones are allowed. WKA seat rules apply. Catch can are mandatory. WKA motors rules apply. In junior classes body, steering wheel height & faring permitted at track discretion only. All jr. restricted cage class will be allowed the bolt on style roll cages as long as they weld the cage to the frame. 2001 WKA champ rules apply for adult classes.
7. All karts must be weighed after each event. If light at the scales in the heat you loose points for the heat and the driver starts in the rear for the feature. If light at the scales in the feature, you will loose points for the feature. You may re-weigh after the class is through for both the heat and the feature, (As long as you do not leave the fenced in area). Penalty for not weighing your kart is loss of points for that race. Anything that was knocked off do to normal racing incidents may be with kart at scales. Track officials are not responsible to find lost parts. (This rule applies to all karts entering the racing surface, unless you leave in EMT care.)
8. Drivers clothing requirements are track approved heavy jacket, heavy full-length pants or racing suit preferred, gloves, neck brace and SNELL (95 or newer) full-face helmet. All helmets must be inspected. Most dry cleaners will renomex racing suits. This should be done yearly.
9. NO SWERVING ON FRONT STRETCH. All karts must stay between the white lines. 1 st offense, you will be moved to the rear. Second offense is at the track's discretion.
10. TECH: All protesting must be done before kart being protested leaves scales. Protest money and kart to be torn down will be handed to scale person or promoter only. If a different kart motor was used in heat race than was used in the feature, both motors will be torn down. If the motor is illegal, the protester gets his money back and the offender will be disqualified. If the motor is legal, the protested loses his money to the accused. If the illegal kart ran in multiple classes, the kart is disqualified in all classes that it would be illegal in. Decisions of the tech man are final in all protests and all protest techs will be done that night. Protest fees are $25.00 for top end tear down (stroke and cam) top end (down to crank and rod) plus $10.00 for the tech man and $75.00 for the complete tear down plus $25.00 for tech man. $15.00 for fuel and restrictor ($12.00 plus $3.00 for the tech man). If promoter thinks fuel smells illegal, fuel may be disqualified on smell alone if driver requests fuel analyses the driver will pay a $500 analyses fee that night and wait for lab results. If motor is found to be illegal, then the offender pays. Only tech man and kart owner or mechanic is allowed in the tech area during tear down. NO LOITERING!!! If found illegal 1 st offense, loss of points for night & fine of initial tech fee 2 nd offense loss of season points & suspension for remainder of year. All fines must be paid before reentering track facility.
